Gifted and Talented
Some children on the spectrum exhibit exceptional abilities or talents in specific areas, often referred to as “savant” skills. These can include remarkable skills in mathematics, music, art, or memory. While not all autistic individuals are gifted, those who are may demonstrate exceptional focus and aptitude in their areas of interest, which can differ significantly from the general abilities of neurotypical children. It’s important to recognize and support these unique strengths while also addressing the challenges they may face.
